
Zach Dove
UC Santa Cruz, The Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geoengineering
Zachary Dove is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Politics at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), and a Research Fellow at The Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geoengineering (DSG). Zach is a scholar of Global Environmental Politics, with a focus on climate change, engagement, and emerging technologies. His dissertation research explores the role societal engagement plays in the governance of solar geoengineering research, focusing on the United Kingdom’s SPICE project and the Degrees Initiative as cases. He will graduate in June 2025 and will start as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Environmental Studies at UCSC this summer working on a new project on atmospheric methane removal. His research has been published in several journals, including Sustainability, Energy Research and Social Science, Futures, Elementa: Science of the Anthropocene, and World Trade Review. He also has a co-authored book under contract with Cambridge University Press.
