African Climate and Development Initiative, University of Cape Town

Trisha Patel is a Research Assistant at the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) at the University of Cape Town. Her work sits at the intersection of climate science, equity, and emerging climate interventions, with a particular focus on solar radiation modification (SRM) through stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI). She has contributed to research exploring the potential impacts of SRM on climate extremes, biodiversity, public health, global catastrophic risk, and the socio-economic implications of SRM-induced climate changes at the country scale. Trisha is currently developing a sectoral assessment framework to better understand how these changes could affect socio-economic systems and vulnerable communities in Africa. She holds an MSc in Climate Change and Sustainable Development and is committed to fostering inclusive, evidence-based conversations around climate risk and intervention, ensuring her findings are both context-specific and policy-relevant
