Claudia Wieners

Dr. Claudia Wieners is a climate physicist at the Institute for Marine and Atmospheric research, Utrecht (IMAU), Utrecht University, Netherlands.  

One of her main research interests is Solar Radiation Management, in particular climate impacts of Stratospheric Aerosol Injection. She is currently working on the effects of SAI on AMOC weakening and tipping, as well as on tropical cyclone frequency and severity, and is contributing to the Global Tipping Point Report.  

She is also active in more interdisciplinary work around climate change - for example, climate-economics modelling - and was lead author of an open letter regarding the need for balanced SRM research (https://www.call-for-balance.com/letter).
